Photos of Derrycassin Woods Walk And Playground

Join us on a journey through Derrycasin Wood, a scenic forest walk located beside Dring lake, starting from the Mullinalaghta GAA club. Recently renovated with newly done paths, the walk is now more accessible and allows for faster running and easier biking. However, we can't help but miss the old paths, which were small, narrow, and full of character that had naturally evolved over the years. From a runner's point of view, they were also softer and kinder to the feet.

Although we expected to see the bluebells in full bloom during our early May visit, we were met with only a few patches. Nevertheless, the winding paths and hilly terrain made for a picturesque morning walk. For photographers, there are numerous opportunities for amazing portraits, especially during early morning or late evening when the sunlight creates zebra lines of light running across the forest ground, creating natural interest, and highlighting the focus point of your picture.

I am delighted to have this little natural forest available to me in Longford to go out on little journeys as a photographer.

After the walk, Trail Grinders awaits you with a smile, serving shots of coffee and treats. The location also has a kid's playground and toilets that are kept open by the GAA club, ensuring you're never stuck before or after the walk.
