1st April Photo Competition / Critique

Hello Everyone,

So, to keep us entertained during the lock down, a few suggestions came forward to have a photo competition/critique from the Dublin Beginner Photography Group.

This week’s theme is PLANTS & FLOWERS. There's no better time than now to scour the green pastures and gardens of your surrounding areas or even the back garden to find the perfect photo to frame on your wall.

Each individual will have 1 week to submit a photo via our Facebook Page or via email to info@photosbyevan.net .

Photos will then be reviewed and critiqued per each submission. If you wish to keep your critique personal. Please email the photo to me instead of Facebook submission.

All submissions will be available to view on our Facebook Page and on www.photosbyevan.ie for those that don't wish or want to use social media.

Photos will be judged based on:

  • Technique - is the image exposed correctly, sharp and in focus.

  • Composition - how all the visual elements harmoniously express the purpose or intent of the image. Does the photo draw the viewer in to look where the creator intended?

  • Contrast - the difference between black and white in your images. Without contrast you wouldn't have an image because there wouldn't be any differentiation between light and dark; everything would be black, white, or a single shade of grey somewhere in between.

  • Creativity - how much effort you went through to achieve the perfect image that can capture the viewers’ attention.

Submission Deadline is 17th of April 2020 @ 23:59. If enough submissions are maintained, a new photo competition will be announced on the 18th of April. Hope this keeps your mind occupied during these hard times and help you focus on something fun and positive.

Here’s a gallery of some of my images as suggestions for entries:

The winning submission will be posted as our Facebook Group and Meetup page backdrop until the next competition.

Regards
Evan
