2nd April Photo Competition / Critique

Hello Everyone,

We closed off submissions for last week’s theme with plenty of beautiful submissions. I will review them today and post them on Sunday with the critiques.

Heading to next week is going to get a little more interesting. Its something some people do a lot and others avoid it. So we're going to embrace ourselves by taking a self portrait.

This week’s theme is Self Portrait.

Get creative, go outside, paint some faces or whatever crazy idea you can come up with to make your image stand out and be better than a plain selfie. Your imagination is your limit.

Each individual will have 1 week to submit a photo via our Facebook Page or via email to info@photosbyevan.net .

Photos have to be taken in April 2020. Remember the whole point of this is to keep us occupied and entertained during lock down. Do not recycle old photos please.

Submit one photo only.

Photos will then be reviewed and critiqued per each submission. If you wish to keep your critique personal, let me know during your email submission.

All submissions will be available to view on our Facebook Page and on www.photosbyevan.ie for those that don't wish or want to use social media.

Photos will be judged based on:

  • Technique - is the image exposed correctly, sharp and in focus.

  • Composition - how all the visual elements harmoniously express the purpose or intent of the image. Does the photo draw the viewer in to look where the creator intended?

  • Contrast - the difference between black and white in your images. Without contrast you wouldn't have an image because there wouldn't be any differentiation between light and dark; everything would be black, white, or a single shade of grey somewhere in between.

  • Creativity - how much effort you went through to achieve the perfect image that can capture the viewers’ attention.

Submission Deadline is 24th of April 2020 @ 23:59. If enough submissions are maintained, a new photo competition will be announced on the 25th of April. Hope this keeps your mind occupied during these hard times and help you focus on something fun and positive.

The winning submission will be posted as our Facebook Group and Meetup page backdrop until the next competition.

Regards
Evan
